This guide explains how you can modify your name and URL step-by-step. SoundCloud recommends entering your artist name so other users can easily find you using the search functionality.
Disclaimer: when you change your SoundCloud URL, all previous links you shared become invalid. The links of your songs you send to friends, record labels, or on social media won’t work anymore. Keep this in mind before making that commitment.
Change your SoundCloud name and URL
The first thing you should do is log in on SoundCloud. Go to your profile page using the web browser on your computer or laptop.
- Click on the Edit button below your profile header.
- A popup appears where you can change your Display name and Profile URL.
- Clear the Display name field and enter your artist or band name.
- Click on the pencil icon to change your Profile URL.
- Click Save changes when you are ready to submit the modifications you have made.
What if the URL is already in use?
If another user uses the URL you entered, you will get a notification: This profile URL is already in use. Try a different one. Try different variations until you are satisfied. My recommendation is to use the same username on all social media pages and your website. Be consistent because it will be easier for your (potential) fans to find you when looking for you up on the internet.
Please note: Enter your SoundCloud URL in lower case. You can use numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Changing your URL can is only possible using your browser on a desktop or laptop. SoundCloud applications on mobile devices don’t have this functionality available (yet).
